A call to action, my loves. And hope.

Dear Readers,

We’re departing from our usual style today because we are, to be frank, in utter shock for a friend. Our dear and beloved Bev from Black Ink Paperie and her family have received from shocking news this week. I’ll let her tell you in her own words.

Dearest readers, if you are not already a fan of Bev’s work and blog, I encourage you to become one now. You will be a friend, because whether she knows you or not, Bev treats everyone who steps into her blog as a friend, offering her wit, charm, and brilliance. I urge you to reach out to Bev in the comment section, so that she will know, without doubt, that we, who connect ourselves to one another through the delicate fibers of this internet web, are warm and supportive and that we remember and carry our own in our hearts.

Blogging and the friendships we form through it seem, at first, somehow less real. But they are not. These are real relationships we form with one another, bloggers and blog readers. We are friends in the truest sense of the word. And when our friends are hurting, we try to lessen their burden. We let them know they are not alone.

When my own family was travelling down cancer’s dark road, you were friends to us. Your warmth and support, whether in a comment or an email, were succor during that uncertain time. Let us now pay it forward and envelope our Bev in that same warmth and support.

To you, dearest Bev – you, who have always seemed to know just what to say no matter my need, you are not alone in this. I hope you can feel the strength of our arms wrapped around you from afar. You and your family are ever in our thoughts, hopes, and prayers. And there you will stay.

With love and hope,

The Nested Family

  1. I wrote to her and am praying and hoping for the best for them both. I traveled that road and knowing people care and love you is really a big help when times seem so dark. I agree that the blogging community friendships are real, as my favorite part of blogging is making “blogger” friends. We share so much of ourselves when we write and share, and what better way to make a friend! Thanks Kate for all you do. The smiles you bring to me and others are priceless!

  2. I am a follower of Bev’s because she rocks but you know that already otherwise you wouldn’t be telling me to follow her………

  3. Thanks Kate. *hugs*
