A re-cap… kind of.

So a lot has happened since I was here last. Typical, I know. But isn’t that always the way? It’s like the line from that John Lennon song – “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” I went to panel this last weekend on humor writing where they said that lists are funny. We’ll see….

1. I went to BlogHer this past weekend. It was overwhelming, and while I was disappointed in many of the panels I attended, I did get to see The Pioneer Woman. Yes. Biggest. FangirlSquee. Ever. I rode up to Chicago with dear Amy and we bonded over stories, laughs, compromised ethics, and chicken. Oh, and Eddie Izzard. This, darling Dorothy, is for you:

2. While at BlogHer, I met some of the fantastic bloggers I’ve followed. Chris, Cindy, and Jennifer  – thanks for a fun weekend! So great to finally meet you! (And Chris, thank you for all the laughs on the way back home.) I feel like quoting ol’ Bogey and going all Casablanca on your asses. So, get ready for that. It’s coming.

3. My sister ordered new checks and, apparently, her bank thinks that she is in a relationship with my mother, because the address on the checks is listed as Kara and Susan LASTNAME.

4. Lolabear has a hotspot covering her entire throat. She’s absolutely pitiful. Antibiotics, a steroid spray, and antihistamines from the vet will hopefully take care of the problem and she can go back to her silly, doodlish self.

5. I got an awesome “prize” while at BlogHer (more on this tomorrow – promise). I know, I know – the suspense is lit’rally killing you. My bad.

Before I started this, I thought that I would have at least 11 points in this list. So… that clearly worked out well. But I’m tired and I have a gimpy doodle attempting to lay in my lap, so I’m going to cut this short. Tune in tomorrow for pictures of my prize, weekend, and, if you’re lucky, the thing on Lola’s neck that makes her look like the world’s largest turkey. Lucky you, right? Of course.

Were any of you at BlogHer? I’d love to hear what you thought about it! (I’d also love your excuses for why we didn’t meet!)

  1. I was (and am) thrilled beyond words to have been lucky enough to meet up with you and the rest of the Blogfast Club! You are just as warm and hilarious in person, lady!
Plus? You didn’t make me ride in the trunk on the way home, so Double Bonus points! *grin*

  2. Looking forward to hearing what you won! Sorry I had to miss it this year. I have been lucky to meet The Pioneer Woman a few times at readings, and book signings and blogher. I thought you would get a kick out of something. My girlfriend made me up a teapot with my pic with her! So fun!

  3. So I have now wasted my entire day watching Eddie Izzard videos on YouTube. Thank you. Seriously, thank you. I haven’t laughed that hard in awhi…well, at least a week. Glad you had fun at Blogher. Good to have you back!

  4. Would you go to blogher again? I think i’d rather go to meet people in person than to learn anything!

  5. I would go to BlogHer if the commute wouldn’t kill me……………..I think it is a bloody long way from Newie down under

  6. Thanks for the shout-out, dearie. And for the Eddie (my heart aches for you) Izzard. Going to watch now instead of doing all of the household and thesis-related things I’m supposed to do while my kids are in camp.

    Thanks!
